Brixen im Thale

Brixen im Thale is situated in the centre of the Brixen Valley and the Kitzbühel Alps, about 10 mins. from Kitzbühel and 20 mins. away from the motorway exit in Wörgl. Even the Celts and the Romans used to appreciate the ideal climate. In the 19th century, Brixen was already known as a small spa resort, which was even frequented by Marie-Louise von Habsburg, Emperor Napoleon’s second wife.

Today, Brixen has gained a good reputation as a holiday resort with friendly four-star hotels, cosy guesthouses and inns, holiday apartments in every possible category and, particularly popular with families, farm stays and a campsite.

One reason for the village’s growing popularity over the last few decades is the high amount of investment that has gone into tourist infrastructure. Thus, thanks to consistent upgrading and continuous quality improvements as well as connections with neighbouring resorts in the Kitzbühel Alps, the village’s ski area has developed into one of the largest, most modern and most attractive ski resorts in Austria. In addition, winter guests to Brixen will discover an extensive network of cross-country ski tacks, a wonderful high-altitude track right in the ski resort, romantic winter hiking paths and a natural toboggan run.

A multi-purpose leisure facility with a sport and adventure swimming pool, a romantic bathing lake, tennis courts, a football pitch, beach volleyball court, integrated Kneipp pools as well as an idyllic pond for fishing right by the leisure facility ensures plenty of fun and recreational activities in the village centre.

Brixen’s gastronomy is another important pillar of the tourist industry. Guests are spoiled with traditional specialities and sophisticated cuisine in the numerous traditional inns, exquisite restaurants and cosy alpine huts. And the socializing goes on well into the early hours in all the cafés, pubs and aprés ski bars.

Yet all this would mean nothing were it not for the spectacular mountain backdrop of the Kitzbühel Alps. Harmoniously embedded in this alpine scenery, Brixen waits to be experienced along its broad network of hiking trails, cycle paths, mountain bike routes and cable cars. With a great deal of pride, we regard this as our biggest treasure, one we cherish, care for and love to be able to share with guests.
